Yes it is a tool and not a creature but it could turn out to be the most potent tool of repression ever employed. It could be very much like a nuclear weapon in that it could cause horrible harm to freedom loving people but very much unlike a nuclear weapon no physical damage at all. In the hands of those who want to control us right down to the smallest detail of our lives (most of a certain political party it seems to me) AI will be a nightmare. Thank you for watching the hearing, I am sure I could not watch Blumenthal for 3 minutes much less 3 hours and I like Durbin much less than war hero Blumie. These are two of the most self serving phonies to ever disgrace our once great government's leadership.
Can’t disagree with that. I think that the Wizard of Aiz is a good meme to highlight this risk. Aldous Huxley famously said, “People will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacity to think.” That’s a risk that we need to keep in mind.
